Call for Papers: Visions of Research in Music Education, ISSME Symposium Special Volume:

What Thinking Sociologically Can Teach Us About Music Education

Visions of Research in Music Education is pleased to announce a special volume dedicated to the International Society for the Sociology of Music Education 2025 Symposium. We invite colleagues to submit a paper that has been adapted from a spoken presentation from the 2025 Symposium.

Please submit your manuscript no later than September 15, 2025 through the VRME submission portal. Submissions should follow the VRME formatting guidelines (e.g., submissions should be formatted to APA 7th edition guidelines and in general, papers are between 5,000-8,000 words) and adhere to the journal’s ethical standards. As a note, the online platform allows links to be embedded in the publication. Therefore, supplemental material—photos, videos, sound files—can be accommodated.

Please also include a brief abstract (ca. 100–150 words), a list of 4-6 keywords, and a 100–150-word biography for each author.

All inquiries may be sent to vrmejournaleditors@gmail.com and guest editors, Gareth Dylan Smith, drumming@bu.edu and Austina Lee, Austina.lee@uconn.edu
